Business Needs
The Whitaker Companies were experiencing issues such as improper installation of Microsoft XP, applicants’ resumes being downloaded into their system that were not recoverable, numerous error messages appearing when any selections were made, broken weblinks, and a search engine that was non-functionable. In addition, their current IT system was being overwhelmed with spam, had multiple public folders, the potential for a security breach existed, and the system provided no standards to file hierarchy. Consequently, they were looking to enhance their current IT support.
ERGOS Solution
ERGOS conducted a thorough network assessment, from which was implemented a project plan consolidating Whitaker’s 14 server environment to 7 servers, removing out of warranty hardware and consolidating critical network applications to warrantied hardware. ERGOS upgraded antivirus, backup software, installed Microsoft Exchange 2003, a remote access server, Terminal Server, and a new firewall solution. In addition, every workstation was rebuilt to a common standard using HP computers.
The Results
The server and application consolidation streamlined the network resulting in faster performance, efficient network management and stabilization and data security. The streamlined network and standardizing of individual workstations has greatly improved the overall productivity of Whitaker’s employees.
