Business Needs

CytoGenix was using POP email, receiving lots of spam and their backups were sporadic. They were looking for a professional IT partner who could help them eliminate lingering issues, protect their data and provide them with an infrastructure where they could collaborate and share information. Protecting their data is paramount to their biotechnology business.

ERGOS Solution

Initially, ERGOS conducted a thorough assessment of their existing network, working with CytoGenix to refine their strategic technology goals. ERGOS designed a network with a mail and file server and tape backup system, with several layers of protection against antivirus, antispyware and intrusion by installing a business-class firewall, centrally managed server antivirus and a spam filter service. After the upgrade of the network, workstations were standardized and the network was put on a maintenance plan. UPS devices were installed for the server and each workstation to protect against power outages, which are becoming more common place.

The Results

Spam was dramatically reduced and data backups are monitored on a daily basis along with an archival retention plan in place. Productivity has improved due to the elimination of lingering issues and collaboration and sharing of information created with the new Microsoft Exchange server.
