Microsoft SBS 2003 R2 Provides Core Component for Upgrading Infrastructure into Secure, Stable Network for Natural Gas Trading Company

Black Barrel Energy was a relatively new company with lingering IT issues. They needed to secure their network, consolidate servers, enhance collaboration and increase performance. Their servers were out of date and they did not have any consistent IT support. Devoting their time to trading natural gas, there was little time to devote to resolving IT issues and reliability was critical to their daily operations.
From the initial network assessment, ERGOS recommended Microsoft’s Small Business Server to provide Black Barrel with complete control of their email and collaboration and sharing with Microsoft Exchange. To stabilize and secure the network, ERGOS installed a Dell PowerEdge 2900 server with Symantec Backup Exec, Symantec AntiVirus and a SonicWALL TZ170 Firewall with AntiVirus/AntiSpyware/Intrusion Protection. A new switch was installed and cabling cleaned up to replace aging devices for faster network performance. New Dell Optiplex computers with Microsoft Office 2003 were eventually deployed to update workstations along with UPS battery backups.
Brian Bowen, likes that his users can collaborate and share information and that he can now focus on keeping daily operations humming because IT issues have disappeared. The network runs smoothly without interruption. ERGOS’ monthly onsite server and software maintenance along with 24x7 remote monitoring keeps the network secure and stable. Brian adds, “We now stay focused on trading, not frustrations with IT.”
