Tauber Oil Company wanted to streamline their database servers for their core business application to accommodate their growth. The application was developed by an outside software vendor who recommended that it was also the perfect time to upgrade to a new server. Tauber wanted ERGOS to monitor and evaluate their current system and develop a solid migration plan.
ERGOS recommended that with what technology has to offer now, it would be a good move to consolidate their three database servers into one fully redundant Dell PowerEdge server with Windows Enterprise Server 2003 and Windows Enterprise SQL 2000. The new server was set up to replicate the database on the server to another drive to keep users from hitting the live database for faster performance. Their disaster recovery plan was upgraded where the database is replicated to a collocation facility.
The streamlined server architecture provides faster performance. With faster performance, productivity has improved and the upgraded DR plan provides additional peace of mind. In addition, the server consolidation and upgrade provides plenty of room for growth.
